PCI compliance credit cards

Is Your Library PCI Compliant?

As of July 1, 2010, most U.S. banks are requiring their merchant account customers (anyone accepting, processing or storing credit card information) to be PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliant. Developed by the banking industry to ensure all parties handling credit card data maintain a high standardized level of security, PCI compliance is a banking industry requirement, not a legal requirement. However, failure to comply may result in fines or the denial of merchant account privileges. For more information, see the PCI Compliance Guide online at http://www.pcicomplianceguide.org/aboutpcicompliance.php.
