ITG AVXpress™Security Case Unlocking System
ITG's patented solution allows patron self-checkout of AV materials without compromising the security of these vulnerable items
Public libraries report that CDs and DVDs account for 25-50% of their total circulation. Many of these AV materials are also the most likely library items to be stolen. With ITG's AVXpress™ security case unlocking system, CD/DVD security is no longer an impediment to self-checkout. AVXpress unlocks Kwik Cases® or One-Time Cases™ at the end of the self-checkout process, relieving staff of the burden of an injury-causing repetitive task and allowing patrons to enjoy a complete self-checkout―not just a staff-assisted checkout―experience.
ITG AVXpress hardware is available in several configurations: built-in to the kiosk, in a freestanding countertop box, or for RFID only, as a countertop or freestanding Release Station. Release Stations offer several advantages to RFID libraries. They provide a patron-operated secure case unlocking option to libraries who use multi-item processing, and they keep lines moving quickly both at self-checkout and at the circulation desk. Patrons can complete checkout transactions anywhere in the library and proceed directly to a Release Station to open cases without holding up others. The RFID antenna in a Release Station looks for a deactivated security bit on the tag and then permits AVXpress to unlock the case.
AVXpress is one of the many standard features included with ITG XpressCheck™ software. It's just one of the many reasons XpressCheck is the only system with the necessary features to drive 100% of your library's circulation to self-service. Let us show you more!
