ITG DiscXpress II™
Deliver DVDs and CDs from a Secure Storage Vault
DiscXpress II™ (DX2) is a jukebox-style media vault system that secures CD’s, DVD’s, games, and Blu-ray disks and dispenses them to patrons as part of the checkout process. The ITG DX2 system consists of one or more towers in which five 100-disk dispensers are stacked. ITG DX2 can be configured with up to eight (8) 500-disk towers, allowing for dynamic storage of up to 4,000 disks. DX2 releases up to 5 disks at a time simultaneously; it will continue to dispense until all disks have been collected.
DX2 towers can be integrated with an XpressCheck™ self-checkout station or used as a Central Dispensing Station (CDS) for release of AV items after self-checkout or staff-assisted checkout. When connected to an XpressCheck, all items can be checked out in a single self-checkout transaction at the same time, in the same way, regardless of item type. Disks dispense automatically during the self-checkout process. On-screen prompts lead the patron through the checkout process.
Libraries with larger AV collections can opt for the DiscXpress II Central Dispensing Station. Disks are distributed in a separate step after successful checkout by staff or by patrons at the XpressCheck. Patrons simply go to the CDS and scan their patron cards. The system dispenses their checked-out disks.
Additional features:
- Library decides which items require DX2 security and can easily "triage" its collection, adding and removing titles as needed.
- DX2 communicates with the ILS database via SIP2 when items are being loaded to associate the items’ title information to the items’ bar code numbers.
- Central Dispensing Station uses an internal web service to communicate with the self-checkout and staff circulation stations during normal circulation functions.
- Multi-part sets are handled as easily as single disks.
